I am supposed to be watching my dermatology slides right now but i am not rather bloging. I can bet that it is much more fun than doing the former. The documentary slide presentations are a nice lullabi to make you go to sleep in just under five minutes. Besides the earpeice is ages old and wastes lots of its energy in heating up the ears and turning them red, which, i certainly don't enjoy while i have to watch and concentrate. So i thought why not blog and enough with all the dermatology and stuff. Anyways it will be my last day in the rotation tomorrow and i will be up for the spot diagnosis with our doctor. May God help me with that. Ameen.
Dermatology Here i am after a period of inactivity as far as my blog is concerned. And once i narrate my tale no one will be able to complain anymore. Have been quite busy in my Dermatology rotation. Although dermatology looks like a field with nothing much to it yet clinics for students are busy especially when you have vey critical doctor consultant ready to punce upon mistakes and give you the treatment you don't deserve. Had to make a presentation on "Sexually transmitted diseases". This looked loke quite simple a task but as it turnes out nothing is very simple in this complicated world. acha g so it happens that i finish my presentation at 1pm in the night and the night happens to be that of first ramadan. I decide to go to sleep there and then and wake up in the morning and write my presentation to a CD for that i get up at 8:30 and write the first CD of my presentation. It dsoesn't work, i write another one but it doesnt work either (somr mass defect...
Height Matters knowing that standing tall adds fiscal benefits to life is much more reassuring. Atleast thats what one study shows. Those who are tall earn more than those who aren't. Greater height boosts subjective ratings of work performance, including supervisors evaluations of how effective someone is on the job, and also raises objective measures of performance, such as sales volume. Every inch in vertical adds 789 dollars per annum to the purse. So standing at 72 inches i have much better prospects of a wealthy life than many of my collegues hummmmmmmmmmmm.
Doctors can be tongue choppers to your benefit. Yap if you are a korean and want to improve your english accent then slicing a centimeter or two off your tongue can be your answer. TONGUE CHOPPERS
Alija izetbegovic dies The leader who lead the bosnian muslims in the war of independence in 1992-95 has died. He was 78. He once said In 1997 that "the West is not rotten. Islam is the best, that is true, but we are not the best. Instead of hating the West, let us compete with it. Let's have a dialogue with it." And i see it stands true to this day.
Antibiotics Scientists now believe that using antibiotics is not safe in infants and can give rise to allergies in the later periods of life. These findings were presented in the annual meeting of the European Respiratory Society in Vienna. Scientists believe that infants who have been on antibiotic courses had 2.5 times more chances of developing asthma than those who had had no such treatment. But they say that this does not mean that children shouldn't receive antibiotics rather doctors should be prudent in their use. via scientific american.
"I have bestowed on everyone a particular mode of worship...I look at the spirit and the inward feeling. I look into the heart to see whether it be lowly though the words uttered be not lowly...THe lovers of God have no religion but God alone."-- Rumi
"Just get stuck in what you are interested in. Don't get stopped by the fear that you are studying medicine, although lots of people will try to scare you. Good doctors grow out of people who dare to try new things and get involved in important issues, not from people who live in fear of getting a few percent lower than their best in the exams. Be brave and commit yourself to something new and exciting_ you will be amazed by the rewards that you will get in friendship, in skills and in opportunities." ---Tim Rittman.
The Happiest Nation. One is often inclined towards thinking that happiness is bought by money or it is a comodity enjoyed only by the well to do. But one is often proved wrong. It looks like joy is indeed a relative phenomenon for everyone around. Only that can explain a peaceful night's sleep of a begger and carefree attitude of a 10 year old kid. Here are a few facts about the happiest nations on Earth.
