Rumi, Faiz, Usman and Hussain.
God created pain and sorrow that happiness might show itself by contrast. For hidden things are made manifest by means of their opposites; since God has no opposite, He is hidden.--Rumi.
It seems that everything and everyone around me is getting intellectually stimulated. First it was Usman who went on a shopping spree today and bought every book on rumi he could find in Dolmen mall and provoked this post and then it was Hussain's. He left this amazing cd on my PC about Faiz titled 'Faiz-Ajj kay Naam.' Its a venture by Technopak Media Creations, a venture of singapore based Pakistanis with a strong desire to preserve, and bring to an international audience, the rich and varied heritage of the sub continent.
The CD itself contains sections on the great poet encompassing his short biography and renditions, recollections and a selection of his literary works. There are also a few interviews from renowned critics. A website has also been setup to complement the CD. All in all its a must have for all the die hard fans of arts. Although i consider a humble servent in this case but this CD is sure to make into my collection.
We for whom prayer is a custom forgotten,
We who except for love's flame
Know neither idol nor god--
Come, let us too lift our hands,
Make our petition that life, our loved mistress,
Smooth today's venom with sweets of tomorrow--
Lighten on them that lack strength for its burden
Time, and the nights and the days--
Brighten with lamps in their darkness those eyes
Dawn's rosy face cannot touch!
May there be shown to those feet that no
Pathway have aided, some road--
May there be given to deceit's slavish votaries
Will to deny and to seek--
Courage to men whose heads tyranny's
Sword hovers over, to fend to fend off the murderous
hands!
Love's hidden mystery-- man's fevered soul:
today let us
Make a new covenant with it, its fever be slaked;
Truth's potent word, that keeps pricking the
heart like a thorn,
Make it our own, and the throbbing pain bring to
an end.

Learning Arduino 1

This holiday season I decided to gift myself some basic electrical components in the form of a Arduino UNO set from Elegoo. I have always had a desire to tinker with electronics and in gifting myself this basic set I am now starting on a journey to quench my inner electrical workman's thirst. I hope to develop this hobby as I move forward and will, from time to time, post about it here on the blog. As the journey moves forward I am sure to run into trouble and issues. But as they say you can not master anything without first being a fool at it, so I have decided to remain a fool at it until I am a little good at it. To start with, I do possess some elementary knowledge in electronics and electronic circuits. I intend to further my knowledge using the world wide web and following some very useful video channels on youtube. I will first start with some very basic projects to familiarize myself with Arduino and basic electronic circuits and techniques such as soldering. Then graduall...

Gluttony

There has been a recurring thought in my mind over the past many many months.  Every time I sit on the table to eat food with my  family  I thank God for giving me this opportunity to sit down and enjoy one of the basic needs of living beings.  Apart from the ability to sit down and eat with family I also do enjoy the absolute variety of tastes that are reaching my taste buds.  It is indeed a fact that our table is almost always stuffed with different  flavours by virtue of quite intricately cooked foods with lots of love.

XBOX ONE controller

I have been using the new xbox for many days now. The most important part of the console is obviously it's controller as this is the part we interact with most. In comparison to the xbox 360 controller the build quality of this controller seems slightly compromised. There is little counter weight in the wings of this controller and therefore it does not feel quite as sturdy in hand as the old one. However the shape has been elongated a bit and this actually probably compensates for the weight issue. All the buttons are within reach of my fingers which is good. One thing I have liked about the xbox controller is the snug fit in my hands. This is unlike sony's six axis controller. Those are obviously made for smaller hands. The sony controllers are much sturdier as I have learnt over the years I have had the play station. They took a lot of beating but came out winning. I don't think I expect same quality from the xbox controllers.  Also I have been getting a taste of Microso...
