24.
Long absence from the blogging scene yet again. This time around it has been due to load of work and the serial 24. Well I would say more so because of the later cause. 24 is such an addictive thriller adventure serial that one cant resist watching the season in one go. I almost missed two morning rounds because of the addiction. And those that I did attend in the past week were all bleary eyed and muzzy.
GS3 subrotation is finally over. It was a real nightmare for me. All the good work done in Urology went to drain in this one. After rotating through this subrotation I have recognized various problems and shortcomings in the way these people like to conduct their proceedings.
1)Some of the doctors are too terrifying for students to have a working and learning relationship with them.
2)Residents are ill equipped with the teaching skills.
3)Not all the residents want to incorporate students actively in the patient management process.
4)Residents are too careless and themselves come to the hospital for spending time and pay least attention to serious work.
5)Students being at the bottom of authority pyramid become the target of all the anger and frustration.
6)Inner rifts between the teams prevent an efficiently working environment.
7)Women can never take effective control of any situation.
8)Work load is unequally distributed amongst students.
9)Residents never bother to reply to pagers.
Having said all this I must admit that not all students are responsible enough to take control of situations and emerge as true winners from adverse ones. There are short comings on both sides of the table and no one is ready to come forward and take control of the situation. Just as people before me I have passed through the torture and so will those who are to follow.
