A great place to study.    Yes this is the name of the article written by the US ambassador in Pakistan and deals with the issue of foreign medical students in the land of the free. The whole article is replete with false claims and assurances that is so characteristic of the US government. At one point in time the honourable writer makes us believe that after the installation of Student and Exchange Visitor System it has become ever so easy for the aspiring students to enter states in peace. The writer talks of foreign medical students and the benefit they bring to the US society both in terms of cultural diversity and monetary inflow. He tells us of new scholarships being given to help students study in states. In the end he ends his essay with the following note, For Pakistanis thinking about your own future, I strongly recommend that you consider higher education in the United States. With more than 3600 fully accredited institutions of higher education, America...
President of the exiled.    The dictator it seems is nothing more than a president of the self exiled bastards who like to control the country from the cozy comforts of their london homes. The kind of statements that the dictator has made recently about the fate of kashmir are found completely in accord with the statements made by his lord Altaf Hussain in India. Both seem to be of the view that Kashmir is a burden on the nation that should be shunned as soon as possible. There seems to be a hint of the idea that Kashmir issue will be resolved without keeping in view the wishes of the Kashmiri people. Atleast that is what our dictator seems to be doing. I dont know what more is to come from the ugly mouth of the dictator in recent times because already what he has said is more than enough. Pakistan has completely back tracked from its principled stand of self determination solely because of its incompetent leader. We have literally given up to all our principled de...
China Land.    This time around when I came out of the exile from red brick fortress that we call AKU I was stunned by astounding number of Chinese products in the market. Every where I went I could see Chinese characters inscribed on products ranging from needles to washing machines. Infact small cities and towns have conveniently turned into Chinese towns and cities. I am using toothpaste imported from china I am polishing my shoes with shoe polish imported from china I am working on a Chinese computer driving a chinese car. I am using a Chinese phone and listening to Chinese channels on the satellite. I am a Chinese man!
Haven't been able to make any real posts for quite sometime. many reasons could be sighted for the delay or the apparent pause in the posts but I wouldn't indulge into the story telling right now rather get straight to the point. I was going through this old piece of newspaper just today and my eyes caught a news item which told about the apparent misery of muslim lot in the country of Thailand. Have been reading about the insults inflicted upon the resident muslim community in Thailand for some time now and cant resist writing about it. the news item told of arrest of 1300 muslims in the southern Thailand who were part of a peaceful and non violent demonstration.    This is not the first time that the Thai forces have acted like savages rather they have done this before. Thai muslims will remember 28th April 2004 as a dark day in their history. On this fateful day more than 110 helpless muslims were mercilessly slaughtered by the Thai security forces. Some who esc...
Wbloggar is such a blessing. There is no blogging without this tool for very simple at heart bloggers like me. If it were not for blogger i would not be making this post and mine like this. and in such a busy time when you home is hustling bustling with guests it is difficult task to find time. So to all my valued readers Eid Mabrook.
Islam and Terrorism.    Zakir Naik explains his views on the topic in this some what long essay. I have heard him speak on a number of occasions and must admit that this essay is no where near his level of intellect. Most probable reason that comes to mind is the fact that he is an orator and his writing reflects his style of debate. Thre is a definite difference between speaking and writing. Both don't necesserily have to be convincing. So my advice, read the following text aloud and it will make much more sense to you. ISLAM AND TERRORISM BY DR. ZAKIR NAIK MUSLIMS ARE FUNDAMENTALISTS AND TERRORISTS Question: Why are most of the Muslims fundamentalists and terrorists? Answer: This question is often hurled at Muslims, either directly or indirectly, during any discussion on religion or world affairs. Muslim stereotypes are perpetuated in every form of the media accompanied by gross misinformation about Islam and Muslims. In fact, such misinformation and false pr...
My first elective for second slot was confirmed just today. I am glad to be working in haematology oncology for 4 weeks with the best doctor in the town. Dr. Vaziri is one of the elite. Soon after my elective he will be moving on to MD Anderson as the director of bone marrow transplant unit there. Hope to make an impression and as a consequence get a recommendation from him. Haemoncology is one of my shortlisted fields of interest. I think it is one of those branches where doctors come in much closer contact with their patients and act at a much wider perspective than merely treating a physical ailment. Connecting to your patient is the essence of being a good doctor.    Dr. Vaziri no doubt is a dedicated soul. As much as I have come to hear about him from my colleagues he has inspired me for most part of it. He works most part of the day and his patients are the center of his world. He is the one who started the tradition of early morning rounds in this institu...
Gods on Earth.    For my last patient of the day in what could potentially be my last clinic in surgery, ever, I had someone whom I couldn't help. It is never a good feeling to not be able to help your patients. It was an elderly lady who came with an incurable cancer of the biliary tract. She was in lots of pain and the irony was that she didn't know about her ailment. To her this was just another abdominal pain that might go away with medication. Her pain was intractable and wouldn't abate even with morphine and my pain is here to stay. Nevertheless I have come to realize that we as doctors have our limits and these limits we can't exceed no matter how hard we try. Somewhere something gets out of control and then nothing can be done. So long for the team AKU.
Team AKU.    My surgery team currently comprises of AKU medical students from phase 1, AKU medical students phase 3, Interns AKU grads, residents AKU grads, Chief resident AKU grad. Thus I have proudly named our team_ Team AKU. I even have a motto for our prestigious team. The motto is ' Here we care .'
