CCJ
Many of you who read this page either by chance or by rotten bad luck don't know what these three letters stand for. But for clarifying exactly that i am here. CCJ stands for Chenab College Jhang _ my school. The place where i have been brought up trained and educated all at the same time. Its an awsome place. You should visit it sometime i am sure you will enjoy your visit. Loads of good people to meet and talk to.
Well this time around i went there with a purpose. Since Medicine is a difficult career thus i thought i must give all those students who wish to become doctors one day a glimpse of what it is like to become a doctor. Share some experiences as a medical student. Tell them where is the best chance to be a good doctor. Tell them what it takes to become a good doctor. Familiarize them with the concept of research and its importance in medicine. So i went ahead made a small powerpoint presentation and delivered it in front of a healthy gathering of school boys and girls. Everyone was keen at listening to what i said during two hours of my lecture. Mind you i planned to go no more than 30 minutes initially but then interactive sessions cant be restricted when both presenters and those taking the presentations are keen at learning something.
With this jist in my mind i gave them little facts about the profession and mixed this information with loads of good pieces of advice. I think there were a few who took the message as it was meant to be and there were few who might have taken it better.
I identified a few problems with the presentation that i will improve next time i am given a chance to present from the same forum. Initially the talk was meant to be a generalized discussion about medicine but then due to my own constricted knowledge and the interest of the audience it shifted to mainly talking about AKU. I don't mind that at all if my listeners want to talk about AKU then its fine by me. But i wish i could have given them more advice on medicine as a whole.
It was an honour to be presenting something of this kind in my school. This shows two things. First, the administration is open to new ideas and is always looking forward to improving the quality of education at any cost. Second, people in my school love me and remember me and trust me. I am telling you it is such an upbeat feeling to have. If i am something _ anything today, i am because of my good teachers and mentors. I just wish i could have given them more in less time. Will improve the next time i do this. Will try to make it a regular feature for all those coming to my school in the future. All these efforts on my part to make sure next time some one makes a decision about taking up medicine as a career in his life he doesn't repent it the rest of his life.
