'Let Pakistan know'

This kind of news really pisses me off. Sonia Naz is a 23 year old mother of two kids, who was arrested earlier this year for wandering into the parliament of this country. What she went through after she was arrested for this 'criminal act' is both chilling and shameful for the whole nation. It is indeed a bad and dark leave in our history. Not surprisingly though there are many more.
She alleges she was later kidnapped for 15 days and raped by Jaranwala SHO Jamshed Chishti - on the orders of SP Investigation Khalid Abdullah - soon after her release from Adiala jail.
"I had no idea that an SP level officer could be so cold-hearted and criminal," Sonia said before breaking into sobs.
"Had parliamentarians and Punjab government given me justice, I might have been saved the worst humiliation possible," Sonia wailed.

"Rapist" cops version When The News contacted SP Investigation Faisalabad Abdullah Khalid, who was recently promoted from rank of DSP to get his point of view, he appeared indifferent.
On the other hand, SP Abdullah started using derogatory language when he heard Sonias name. He passed many insulting comments on her character. But, when this correspondent pressed the SP to respond to the serious charges made against him, he outrightly rejected Sonias allegations.
"Look, Sonia only wants to become the Mukhtaran Mai of Faisalabad. I had also told the Lahore High Court judge that she would become (Mukhtarian Mai) to malign me," SP Abdullah shrugged off, sarcastically.
The SP claimed Sonia had changed 60 SIMs of different mobile phones to avoid arrest. But, he vowed that he would trace her and the rest of her family members soon as "I have widened my network all over Pakistan".
"Last time, she was reported to be hiding in Landhi, Karachi. Although, Landhi is a big area but do not worry, I am after her," Khalid Abdullah said, adding "she is a liar and I did not do anything to her", SP Abdullah said.

Recounting the day of the horror, Sonia said: "One day, when I was going to my tailor, I was picked up from Lahore by some people at gunpoint, who handcuffed and blindfolded me. After shoving me in a car and driving it for four hours, I was taken to a village house and warned if I ever tried to raise a voice, I would be simply gunned down".
"Finally, a night before my release, SP Abdullah personally came there with SHO Jamshed Chishti. The SP told me I had been maligning him all over Pakistan by first approaching the parliament and then giving interviews in the media and now he would teach me a lesson I would remember for rest of her life".
The SP, she said, chided her for doing this as he mocked that he had already released her husband.
"Then, turning furious, the SP directed the SHO to undress me and he started raping me. When I tried to resist, both of them thrashed me, causing many injuries to my face.
"After I was raped, SP Abdullah stepped forward and urinated in my mouth, challenging me to go and do whatever I could," said Sonia, sobbing bitterly.
"If all the Parliament could do was to send me to jail, what should I expect from rulers, now that I lie shorn of dignity and groveling like an untouchable".

We need to ask ourselves, can we allow such brutality to take place without so much as raising a single voice? If yes then we are truly the sons of this soil. Lament my friends because that is all you can do. But lament upon your own situation. she will live, one way or the other.

Learning Arduino 1

This holiday season I decided to gift myself some basic electrical components in the form of a Arduino UNO set from Elegoo. I have always had a desire to tinker with electronics and in gifting myself this basic set I am now starting on a journey to quench my inner electrical workman's thirst. I hope to develop this hobby as I move forward and will, from time to time, post about it here on the blog. As the journey moves forward I am sure to run into trouble and issues. But as they say you can not master anything without first being a fool at it, so I have decided to remain a fool at it until I am a little good at it. To start with, I do possess some elementary knowledge in electronics and electronic circuits. I intend to further my knowledge using the world wide web and following some very useful video channels on youtube. I will first start with some very basic projects to familiarize myself with Arduino and basic electronic circuits and techniques such as soldering. Then graduall...

Tax skirting by hospital systems?

The issue of avoiding federal taxes is in the news these days with Apple being in the spotlight.  Most of the times big companies avoid paying US taxes by skirting their profits to tax havens.  Healthcare giants can do the same theoretically.  Imagine if there were a health care giant that opens up shop in tax haven islands and then uses the same technique that commercial entities use to skirt their profits out of the country, thereby avoiding taxes.  This is very much possible.  The of shore clinics can be potentially used to complicate the tax return filing system here in US.  I could never understand why a completely US hospital system would like to open up a clinic in Bahamas.  These clinics are portrayed as the global reach of the entity but who do they actually serve.  We never hear about them in press or public.  These clinics are apparently manned by some doctors we never hear about.  How does this system work?  I really do...

Xbox ONE

I have recently purchased the newest version of Microsoft's gaming consoles, the Xbox One . This is a shift from my prior gaming system which was Sony's PS3 . I loved PS3 and preferred it over Xbox 360 for many reasons. It was smarter looking, faster, could play Blu rays, good games and all my friends had PS3s. However the most like able thing about it was the free online game play that Microsoft does not allow. Things I did not appreciate in Sony were its user interface. The move bundle was a waste of money for all intent and purposes as I used it once in the past two years. So this time around I decided to go with Microsoft's game console. The decision was not easy. Obviously PS4 has some good press out there and it is a step forward in technology. However now Xbox can play blu rays too. Also now both consoles require a subscription service for online game play. This sort of made me feel like Sony didn't care for us anymore. I guess paying money might mean better e...
