Diverters

If anything in these past 55 years or so these generals have learnt one thing pretty good. The time tested formula of divide and rule. If you can't convince them just divert them. The issue of Kalabagh dam is one such diverter in place for all the public of this country. As of now the general is making headway on two very sensitive issues. The issue of Kashmir which is very dear to our nation and the issue of Baloch uprising. Both these issues as ever are being handled in the most inappropriate way and thus a complete mess is being created. But to divert our attention from these much pressing issues the general has very conveniently raised the issue of Kalabagh dam. We all know pretty well that the general is not going to make a dam. Had he wanted to he would have done so six years back but he absolutely doesn't want to.
Well I wouldn't blame the general alone for indulging into such tactics for diverting the attention of this nation from much more important and sensitive issue. I think it is something that every Govt. has to employ in order to bypass the far reaching effects of media in this day in age. Since media has become an ever stronger power in this developing global village the news travels all too swiftly and to every door step. So much so that media has in its fold not only active and passive listeners but also unwilling listeners and readers. Even if I don't want to listen to a certain news I will be made to listen to it by the shear impact of it in the media. I have to listen to it. I can't escape the media onslaught even if I try to. As media is gaining worldwide coverage it is also becoming ever more stronger and as the situation stands now except for a very few tightly controlled setups media in every country has become much more powerful than Govt. establishments. Where there is lot of money this has given all such media junkies much more freedom than they deserve.
The counter tactic to this media unleashed would be to deploy diversions on the news scene. If you think that certain step or action will get a lot of media coverage and subsequently a lot of hype and will cause hindrance in its proper execution all you have to do is come up with dummy diverters for the hungry media men. Have some of your trusted cronies in the media league and almost 99% of the media will easily take your bait.
Now what this foolish dictator doesn't realize is that raising the issue of Kalabagh dam will further serve to create larger caveats in this already unhappy nation. And when there is no country left to rule he will not be able to dictate anything. But as I have told you earlier dictators such as him have myopic political eyesight.
One important thing that should be kept in mind in context to all this issue is the rebuilding process going on in the quake devastated areas of the country. The opposition was raising quite some hue and cry on the opacity of this process. It is high time that you use this diverter of Kalabagh dam to munch all the 6 billion dollars flowing down in aid and grants. Afterall that is how Bhutto became a millionaire just three decades ago!

Learning Arduino 1

This holiday season I decided to gift myself some basic electrical components in the form of a Arduino UNO set from Elegoo. I have always had a desire to tinker with electronics and in gifting myself this basic set I am now starting on a journey to quench my inner electrical workman's thirst. I hope to develop this hobby as I move forward and will, from time to time, post about it here on the blog. As the journey moves forward I am sure to run into trouble and issues. But as they say you can not master anything without first being a fool at it, so I have decided to remain a fool at it until I am a little good at it. To start with, I do possess some elementary knowledge in electronics and electronic circuits. I intend to further my knowledge using the world wide web and following some very useful video channels on youtube. I will first start with some very basic projects to familiarize myself with Arduino and basic electronic circuits and techniques such as soldering. Then graduall...

Tax skirting by hospital systems?

The issue of avoiding federal taxes is in the news these days with Apple being in the spotlight.  Most of the times big companies avoid paying US taxes by skirting their profits to tax havens.  Healthcare giants can do the same theoretically.  Imagine if there were a health care giant that opens up shop in tax haven islands and then uses the same technique that commercial entities use to skirt their profits out of the country, thereby avoiding taxes.  This is very much possible.  The of shore clinics can be potentially used to complicate the tax return filing system here in US.  I could never understand why a completely US hospital system would like to open up a clinic in Bahamas.  These clinics are portrayed as the global reach of the entity but who do they actually serve.  We never hear about them in press or public.  These clinics are apparently manned by some doctors we never hear about.  How does this system work?  I really do...

Xbox ONE

I have recently purchased the newest version of Microsoft's gaming consoles, the Xbox One . This is a shift from my prior gaming system which was Sony's PS3 . I loved PS3 and preferred it over Xbox 360 for many reasons. It was smarter looking, faster, could play Blu rays, good games and all my friends had PS3s. However the most like able thing about it was the free online game play that Microsoft does not allow. Things I did not appreciate in Sony were its user interface. The move bundle was a waste of money for all intent and purposes as I used it once in the past two years. So this time around I decided to go with Microsoft's game console. The decision was not easy. Obviously PS4 has some good press out there and it is a step forward in technology. However now Xbox can play blu rays too. Also now both consoles require a subscription service for online game play. This sort of made me feel like Sony didn't care for us anymore. I guess paying money might mean better e...
