If I say that competition is in my bones I wouldn't be wrong in saying that. Quite literally competition is what defines me, you or anyone else in this whole world. The white cells of the body, used for defence against invaders, are a direct product of competition. It is a very tough competition too. We know there are many millions of invaders ready to play havoc with our body all the times. So the body has many millions of diverse and different white cells to teach each and everyone of those invaders a lesson. In order to do so these white cells need to recognize those invading organisms. They do this through cell receptors. These receptors are proteins made by the cell DNA.
Now the competition is that each white cell while undergoing development makes a unique set of proteins which is meant to function as its receptor. Now not all the proteins they make are able to function properly. So the cell is given another chance to make another protein. If that fails too the cell is asked to kill itself, which it does without any hesitation or the guard cells do it for the cell. So all in all each white cell gets only two opportunities to show the worth of its product and its capability, hence. If it fails to do so it has to die without ever complaining.
Our body is so disciplined that it amazes me so much. You make your product you succeed if you are good if not you die obeying orders. You are kept in check by many others and in the same reciprocity you are checked by many others. It is absolute form of co existence and social life. Billions of cells that make up a single body life in absolute discipline and harmony with each other. I think we need to take a lesson or two from them. We need to see how they live in such sociable a manner and yet we fail to achieve that level on the grand scale. I mean its amazing that discipline in the very core of human body yet when all these cells have gotten together with each other they fail to get along with a similar mass of cells that we call another human being. Maybe they are already upto their necks in hard work and discipline and competition that they can't afford to implement it at a larger scale.
Maybe thats where Buddhism and Sufism are so strong when they look for peace within and not without. Search for that harmony within my friend and you will find emancipation that is your fate.
