I am listening to Kofi Annan's farewell address as he leaves the post of Secretery General of the United Nations. He is a very boring personality who carries little charisma s a leader. Maybe that worked for him in getting the post of secretery general of the United Nations. A weak and potential less man like him cn suite well to the wishes of everyone heavily involved in the meddling of the United Nations.
For the first time in his history as the Secretery General he has taken heart to criticise those he thinks are going way over board in dictating their agendas through bullying United Nations. He thinks, now, that, world powers can do a lot when they get their minds to it. In his words 'then sky is the limit'. But when the agenda is not appealing to the world powers then no stone is left unturned to bully and avert the working of the United Nations. He feels that all the permanent members should, atleast, be included in the consultation process before coming to the dais in United Nations and announcing "either you are with us or against us".
Kofi now hs come to know through some stroke of luck that Darfur is a troubled region and Iraq problem should be addressed not through violence but through meditation.
It is strange how our outlook towards world politics changes when we know our end is near and nothing can prevent it. Then you truly speak the truth, which, speaks 'louder than itself'. It is strange how courage for some people can be a function of diplomacy.
