This post is mainly for all the Toyota owners out there. I recently got an oil change for my car. I didn't go to my Toyota dealer mainly because he didn't offer synthetic oil for my car. Seems like kind of strange but yes he told me that he doesn't have synthetic base motor oil and if I wanted one I had to provide it for him. So I ditched him and opted for Vroom instead. They cost me less and almost did or claim to do all those things that my Maplewood Toyota Dealer would have done. There was one exception though. Since my car is a 2009 model the dealer at Vroom hadn't seen very many of these and didn't have the make and model in the system. they didn't reset my odometer. As I had gotten my oil change at about 4000 miles the maintenance required indicator that reminds us of oil changes started blinking two days ago when my car completed 4500 miles. That kind of pissed me off. So I went to my Vroom people and asked them to sort the problem out. And complete idiots that they are they told me that they only see cars on appointments and that i should make one and then come back two days later. The mere attitude of the salesman was uncomfortable and he didn't want to own his mistake. So as a side note for anyone living in Roseville, MN I would suggest to use mechanics other than Vroom. They certainly are not my favorite mechanics anymore.
Anyhow, I called my dealer to find out what a blinking 'maintenance required' light on my dash board meant. My Maplewood Toyota dealer kept me on hold for eternity and never picked up the phone. Then it occurred to me to call Toyota. I did that and found out a simple solution to the problem. All I needed to do was to press the odometer button on the dash board and while keeping it pressed turn off my vehicle and keep it pressed for 6 seconds until 6 zeros flash on the odometer. This, i was told, should reset the meter and the reminder. I did just that and, bingo, the problem was solved.
