Did I mention it here earlier or not, Usman is on fire. He has been putting up some amazing posts at his blog and on malehostel too. We ought to go and have a look.
Peptic ulcers of the world.    Sometimes I think that my posts are fraught, rightly so. Just today I had to see my doctor for complaints of retrosternal burning and epigastric pain that has been troubling me for a considerable time now. Looked like acid reflux to the doctor and she prescribed me two weeks of medications. The condition is supposed to be a result of stress and irregular eating habits. In most cases overeating contributes to the symptoms (not in my case though!). I came back from the clinic and sat in the common room just to watch another depressing documentary on BBC. It was about Ethiopian famine of 80's. It was a documentary made well and effectively, atleast in my case. I could never have imagined that hunger and famine can be so devastating and can shake the core of any society to this level. There were pictures of people either dying or dead everywhere. There were tears in the eyes of parents who had lost their final child finally at the hand...
24.    Long absence from the blogging scene yet again. This time around it has been due to load of work and the serial 24. Well I would say more so because of the later cause. 24 is such an addictive thriller adventure serial that one cant resist watching the season in one go. I almost missed two morning rounds because of the addiction. And those that I did attend in the past week were all bleary eyed and muzzy.    GS3 subrotation is finally over. It was a real nightmare for me. All the good work done in Urology went to drain in this one. After rotating through this subrotation I have recognized various problems and shortcomings in the way these people like to conduct their proceedings. 1)Some of the doctors are too terrifying for students to have a working and learning relationship with them. 2)Residents are ill equipped with the teaching skills. 3)Not all the residents want to incorporate students actively in the patient management process. 4)Resi...
Ustad. In the Eastern culture the word is an orphic denomination for a group of individuals who provide the nation with essential nutrients. These are the individuals responsible for securing our future. It is the important nature of their work that should secure them the elite class in any society. Those nations who learn to respect their Ustad prosper by leaps and bounds and those who don't suffer like ours. In our culture Ustad is more than a teacher who dispenses knowledge; he is a mentor and he is much much more.    Our nation celebrated a "teacher's day" sometime back. There were slogans raised all around the country which went "Salaam Teacher". We are ridden with an inferiority complex that compels us to degrade our Ustad by calling him a teacher. As if it we were already not too tough on the poor Ustad that our Govt. found out a new way of degrading him and making fun of him. I only ask what has anyone earned from all this exercise of fru...
I hate it when my computer gives me troubles. And my computer is giving me troubles again. It keeps on restarting without any reason. These machines are strange, very strange.
SK tomorrow. the game is on and time is running short. The battle will be fought tomorrow and i havent made any preperations. Tomorrow it will be me against SK in the first battle for saving sself respect and dignity. Not that i believe medical students should think that they have any dignity or self respect because they dont. And when the consultant is as toxic as SK they really don't have a chance to save your *ss. Got to go!
