Mothers Day

Just recently Mothers' day was celebrated in the country with some fan fare. Media was all abuzz with mother's day celebration this Sunday. A seemingly western tradition that would be more suitable for someone who likes to remember his/her mother on one single day of the year. Islam is a beautiful religion. It taught its followers the special importance of mothers when no other philosophy dared to give them their due. Even a cursory look on the teachings of Islam would reveal the extra ordinary importance that Islam gives to the mothers of the world. The Holy Quran teaches us to respect our parents at all costs even if they are non muslims. In chapter 17 verse 23 and 24 the guidelines for respecting parents are outlined very clearly. We are asked to respect our parents and if either or both the parents reach old age then do not disrespect them and do not scold them. Instead we are asked to talk to our parents, who reach old age, in a comforting tone. We are asked to pra...

The Real Winner

PML-N has decided to resign from the cabinet. They seem to have made the popular move and tried to win a larger vote bank from their natural opponents PPP. But is it really the case? I don't completely agree. Undoubtedly the decision is a popular move but it has been disconnected from the dictator. It seems that the independence of judiciary is an independent cause from that of independence from the dictator. PML-N has, in recent past, admitted to their inability to get rid of Musharraf and this will turn out to be a disastrous admittance on their part. I think the people of Pakistan supported the cause of independent judiciary more so because they interpreted it as a revolt against the dictator. In itself the stand of the chief justice, or for that matter that of 60 other justices, carries little meaning if it is not understood in the context of the person against whom it is being made. PPP, JUI-F and MQM are happy to play down the role of Musharraf in the public. All th...

Respect for The Prophet (PBUH)

"O ye who believe! Raise not your voices above the voice of the Prophet, nor speak aloud to him in talk, as ye may speak aloud to one another, lest your deeds become vain and ye perceive not. Those that lower their voices in the presence of Allah's Messenger,- their hearts has Allah tested for piety: for them is Forgiveness and a great Reward. Those who shout out to thee from without the inner apartments - most of them lack understanding. If only they had patience until thou couldst come out to them, it would be best for them: but Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. [Surah Al-Hujurat: 2-5]

PML-N and Musharraf

Just a conspiracy theorist's thought: Can it be that Musharraf and Nawaz are working together to out do Zardari and the rest with the help of PML-Q. After all PML-Q is changing its stance on major issues drastically and an alliance between Zardari and MQM has been reached. Can it be that Zardari fears the chief justice because he thinks that he is a part of the alliance against him. This theory is far fetched but not completely absurd.

V Wireless Fraud

Since yesterday I have had numerous disconnection problems on V Wireless internet connection. The connection is as slow as a dial up and now there is this dis-connectivity problem. The signal strength is good and there are no fluctuations to blame for drop in the connection. I can safely presume that it is the result of poor handling at the ISP end. PTCL is doing nothing but getting negative publicity by giving poor service to its customers. I am thinking of reverting to the dial up connection which even if slow is atleast more affordable than this rip off.

V wireless Bachat

I have shifted to the basic plan on my V Wireless. Just to meet another case of utter disinformation on the part of PTCL. The daily line rent on this package is supposed to be Rs. 4, yet I end up paying Rs. 7 every day for no apparent reason. The company is also being a thief in that they are charging every customer a Rs. 2 per every internet call. So in essence we pay not the company publicized Rs. 6 per hour for our internet but Rs. 8 per hour. I have lost all faith in fair business in this country. Every individual and every company is out to get consumers and rip them of their money. It is indeed exasperating. Technorati Tags: Telephone , Internet

Sher Afghan & Arbab Rahim

There is a lot of hue and cry on the way these two members of Musharraf league have been treated in the past few days. All kind of apologetic behaviour is in vogue and the ever so double sided thugs of MQM want their point of view to be heard on every channel. Suddenly the civil society has been turned into the under dog and the MQM mafia wants to take the upper hand. I watch all this an amazement. The memories of the public are short lived and traumas are forgotten earlier then they should be. I personally do not like the Niazi or Rahim bashing or for that matter ill treatment of any Pakistani. But to my mind there is no reason for the civil society to be apologetic to anyone, least the MQM and Musharraf league. We have no reason to yield a single step in our noble struggle against these mafia running thugs. I think every citizen of this country has equal rights to protection of his/her life and property and honor. Why is it then that the same Arbab Rahim gets away with publica...
