There is a lot of hue and cry on the way these two members of Musharraf league have been treated in the past few days. All kind of apologetic behaviour is in vogue and the ever so double sided thugs of MQM want their point of view to be heard on every channel. Suddenly the civil society has been turned into the under dog and the MQM mafia wants to take the upper hand. I watch all this an amazement. The memories of the public are short lived and traumas are forgotten earlier then they should be.
I personally do not like the Niazi or Rahim bashing or for that matter ill treatment of any Pakistani. But to my mind there is no reason for the civil society to be apologetic to anyone, least the MQM and Musharraf league. We have no reason to yield a single step in our noble struggle against these mafia running thugs.
I think every citizen of this country has equal rights to protection of his/her life and property and honor. Why is it then that the same Arbab Rahim gets away with publically slapping someone yet an attempt at venting anger against his tyrannical rule is taken so seriously? When Saddam Hussain was toppled in Iraq his statue was paraded on the roads with people slapping its head with their shoes to show their disgust. All of this took with the consent of and in full view of those who claim to be a benchmark in devising human behavior and provide the sole certificate of proper conduct to anyone in this world. This action of the general public was considered an act worth appreciation. But when Arbab Rahim _ a tyrant no less than Saddam _ is made the target of similar venting of anger it becomes an icon of conduct of our society. I would consider this no less than a case of double standards.
Similarly Sher Afghan Niazi is one of the most out spoken supporters of a dictator who brought unto us the massacres of the Balochis, Pashtuns and the students of Lal Masjid. If he becomes the target of innocent venting of anger then who is to blame?
I think we should take time to remember all the pain the people of Pakistan went through to bring down the tyrannical rule. We should not forget the 45 people who lost their lives on 12th May, neither should we forgive those who brought this upon us. All I ask for is justice be brought to the door step of those who mercilessly killed the people of Pakistan. Is it too much to ask for?
