Unlucky Bastards

There are few unlucky bastards in this world who have everything they could wish for yet they feel as if everything works to nullify their presence. I happen to be acquainted with one these days. I mean talking about people is one thing but to whisper behind their backs persistently and not being ashamed of your deed is completely another thing. And believe me large statures or bigger brains have nothing to do with common sense or common courtesy or IQ.

'Let Pakistan know'

This kind of news really pisses me off. Sonia Naz is a 23 year old mother of two kids, who was arrested earlier this year for wandering into the parliament of this country. What she went through after she was arrested for this 'criminal act' is both chilling and shameful for the whole nation. It is indeed a bad and dark leave in our history. Not surprisingly though there are many more. She alleges she was later kidnapped for 15 days and raped by Jaranwala SHO Jamshed Chishti - on the orders of SP Investigation Khalid Abdullah - soon after her release from Adiala jail. "I had no idea that an SP level officer could be so cold-hearted and criminal," Sonia said before breaking into sobs. "Had parliamentarians and Punjab government given me justice, I might have been saved the worst humiliation possible," Sonia wailed. "Rapist" cops version When The News contacted SP Investigation Faisalabad Abdullah Khalid, who was recently promoted from rank of DS...

Net works

I am sick of using AKUnet. The service is slow unreliable and very expensive. There is no download speed as most of the programmes are blocked by the company. I guess the good days of internet servise are over as are most of other services in this place.

Mobile elections

Ayaz Amir has a very interesting and readable piece in today's Dawn . Amongst other things he narrates his changing experience in the campaign process for elections and the ensuing activities since the large scale availability of mobile phones to the general public. It is interesting to note that since now every Tom, Dick and Harry has a mobile phone connection thus most of the election campaign is carried over the phone rather than going home to home and asking for votes. Well 'most' would be an over exaggeration on my part but some aspects of election campaign have definitely shifted to mobile conversations.    We are also reminded of the great poet Habib Jalib in the same stretch of writing. I have not read Habib as much as I have say Faiz but from the way Ayaz mentioned him he seems to be quite an impressive personality. From the pages that I have gathered up through google search I think he was a die hard communist. He raised his voice against every oppressi...

Scare

Just survived scares. Feels very weird. Well I don't know why I use this word so often and so frequently. Maybe my vocabulary is restricted when it comes to describing and using adjectives for restrictions. On the other front Hussain and myself are I the process of scanning whole lot of pictures these days. Its mostly Hussain's perseverance that has kept up the pace in scanning. Were it left upon me to scan all these pictures I would have taken years to complete the task. Bravo Hussain.
i am tired of looking around

SOS

Never ever believe community. Community is evil. Community is mennace. Community is bad. Community is mirage. Community is for fools to believe in. Community is darth vader. Community is mordor. Community is no institution. God save our soul.

LB Polls

GEO has been keeping us all updated on the results of the local body elections 2005 through their correspondents. I was listening to these results and some of the discussions cum wars raging on TV just yesterday. Pretty interesting and disappointing event. Interesting in the sense that our nation has proven once again that we deserve to remain enslaved by the tyrants. Disappointing in the sense that the winning parties are the most colourless parties in the towns. In Karachi the rulers have made sure that their party wins each and every seat. Pretty much expected results with MQM sweeping the stakes here. In Punjab similar results with PML backed mobsters have been sweeping away the earth from under the nation's feet. Haven't really been listening to the results from Sarhad. It will be interesting to know who wins there since the province is ruled by the MMA .

MQM

Muttahida Qaumi Movement as is the full name for this notorious political party. It is a gruesome and completely debauchee phenomenon on the face of this beautiful country. A completely terrorist outfit created to terrorize and subdue the peaceful population of this city. It is an evil that has no end. It is the demon spreading its ever pervasive dark shadow over this city of lights. It is a snake sitting in our sleeves. It is a swarm of locusts eating away every living thing sucking every drop of blood. It is everything but good, peace or serenity.    I would normally not indulge in this debate for I do value my life and don't want to become a victim of this evil. But this august 14 the debauchee political scam caught my eye more than ever and I had to write. Any where you go in this city of lights its all littered with the ugly political flags and streetlights have been painted red. It seems we are not celebrating the independence day of this country rather in...

Template Changes

Finally The change over is coming to an end. I like this template for it is simple and it has colour blue that I think is soothing. I wanted to make changes to my previous template on a radical scale but that will take some time for me to do and till then I think I will be using this template. The problem with the navigation bar is still persisting and I am trying to figure out a way to deal with it. The best thing will be to either get rid of it completely or atleast make it go up on the page rather than jumbling up all in the corner and destroying the look of the template.

Updating

still in the process. A very tedious process and blogger isnt very kind either when it comes to publisihing posts and changes to the template. Sometimes oene wonders the cyper world isn't that fast.
Gun Smoke Did I write about Gun Smoke . I guess I didn't. Its a sick ass restaurant that has recently opened its doors to the ABCD's of this city. There is a lot of hush hush in the 'in' circles of teenagers and not so teenagers alike about this new dine out place. The other day The News carried a whole section in praise of this new kind of idea. I was so looking forward to eating at this place. But it turns out that the place isn't as good as it has been made to. Its a very small and crowded restaurant with limited seating arrangements. The environment is kind of different and unorthodox (as promised by its advertisers) but the worst part is the food. I mean after all what do you go to restaurant for__to have some good food. But this place_don't even ask. After we had had the torture of enduring the spitful taste of their cuisine one of my friends invented a very useful joke. He said they shouldn't say 'smoked' with their burgers and st...
Come stand on the shoulders of giants
Research Workshop
"I'm not an atheist, and I don't think I can call myself a pantheist. We are in the position of a little child entering a huge library filled with books in many languages. The child knows someone must have written those books. It does not know how. It does not understand the languages in which they are written. The child dimly suspects a mysterious order in the arrangement of the books but doesn't know what it is. That, it seems to me, is the attitude of even the most intelligent human being toward God. We see the universe marvelously arranged and obeying certain laws but only dimly understand these laws. Our limited minds grasp the mysterious force that moves the constellations."-- Albert Einstein.
It is in times that are busy that I find an urge to blog. weird huh! I have just passed through my pulmonology rotation. It was a very short stay of one week where one gets to touch upon the very basics of pulmonology. I am afraid I didn't see much in this one week. Then again my team was nothing I could have loved to live with. The residents were awfully pathetic with typical stereotyping against AKUites and they were given a chance of taking full swing against us by our looser fellow on floor. His brother is a gynecologist here and I am sorry to say that they both are no more than faggots. Really the way both brothers behave makes me feel uncomfortable. This perticular fellow is a good example of a very 'humble' doctor (if you get my drift). He is someone who would like to resonate the expressions of his consultant with attached drama of emotions and exaggeration and never really seems to have a stand or opinion of his own. But then again I don't blame him ...
I take up arms, today, after a long pause. The reasons being multitude. Rough patches and hectic life. Previously unknown stressors, coming to life lately. Conflicts of interest, raising their heads with ferocious intent. Demons of thought, getting ready to burn everything in single breath. On top of all that medicine looking difficult to conquer more than ever. I have been finding escape in the thought that I don't want to pursue clinical medicine further and thus I don't need to read every bit of the details. But lately I have realized that its just another escape mechanism playing with me.    Then I realize that I am just like any youth in this country or for that matter in any country of the developing world. Where life styles are changing faster than the cultures can actually accommodate. The need to perform better and better with little resources and unnecessary, unhealthy competitions in life drain the resources which could be used in a better manner. ...
