I take up arms, today, after a long pause. The reasons being multitude. Rough patches and hectic life. Previously unknown stressors, coming to life lately. Conflicts of interest, raising their heads with ferocious intent. Demons of thought, getting ready to burn everything in single breath. On top of all that medicine looking difficult to conquer more than ever. I have been finding escape in the thought that I don't want to pursue clinical medicine further and thus I don't need to read every bit of the details. But lately I have realized that its just another escape mechanism playing with me.
Then I realize that I am just like any youth in this country or for that matter in any country of the developing world. Where life styles are changing faster than the cultures can actually accommodate. The need to perform better and better with little resources and unnecessary, unhealthy competitions in life drain the resources which could be used in a better manner.
Not everything has been bleak lately though. Some good has come out of nothing. As I have already blogged earlier I have been a little involved in a research workshop organized by my dear near and dear friends Waheed and Fawad under The Student Research Forum of The Aga Khan University. Although I was a last time replacement for some of the lecturers at the workshop yet it was fun and interesting. Delivered two back to back lectures to a very receptive audience this time (unlike the last experience).
Talked about publishing process of manuscripts and then about one of the easier to use referencing managers called EndNote. Both lectures were well received and from the feedback I have received it seems people benefited from the talks. That was the only aim. I have succeeded and with me so have the people at the forum. Bravo to all!
