Ode to joy

Our nation is such a perfect example of acedia, sloth but not indolence. We want to be the masters of this earth and whatever is beyond the skies. We want to conquer and subdue not only each and every inhabitant of this world but also any aliens that might be hovering nearby. We think it is our birth right to be born as leaders who are fed with a golden spoon in their mouth. Not a single soul will you find in this country that does not utilize his/her working time in day dreaming about becoming a hero. We aspire a lot yet fail to deliver. There can be two reasons. First we will explore the easiest of the explanations. We are not sincere in our aspirations. We might say that we want to become whatever we say we want to become but we really don't want to. Deep down inside we know our two penny worth and have an idea, even if vague, that we are not even capable of living an independent life. Sincerity is obviously lacking. And this is not only true for those who aspire to make it big through fair means but those too who want to be kings of the black market. We are essentially a nation of short cutters. The other reason could be that our aspirations do not match our capability. We might want to over estimate our worth by way of media rhetoric but the truth of the matter is that we have never been worth anything. There are a few exceptions here and there but they are merely to prove the law.
We as a nation need to come down to our capable level if we really want to achieve anything from our miserable sorry existence. Need to develop a strength of character that is a bare minimum requirement of any animal inhabiting this planet. We need to do this not for ourselves since we are going down the drain anyways but for other animals so that atleast they can live their lives to their extent. I think right now each and every living and non-living thing around us Pakistanis is annoyed at their bad luck to be present around us. They all are lamenting I can tell you this. The birds, animals, plants, earth, water, air and the rest of it all are in serious state of mourning since the very first day of our inception on this planet earth. But we remain unaffected and untouched and rightly so. We are afterall the sole saviours of everything and anything matter. The butchers are cutting down trees in New murree and raising a concrete structure there. They are killing trees in Lahore cantonment and in Karachi. They are littering the rivers beyond recognition. They are claiming land from the sea. Where they can't claim land from the sea they like to litter it in protest with bottles and cans of beer and wine. Karachi's coastal line is lined with these glasswares and aluminium wares that once held that intoxicating liquid. Even the lashing sea water can not wash these utensils of the guilt of their users. Sick, culture-less, users.
I think Pakistan needs serious family planning so that fewer of these ungroomed, culture-less, uncivilized, unprepared, immature, showdy, shaggy, unkempt, untidy, unilluminated sorry excuses of human beings come into being. We are not even humans how can we ever become human beings!

Learning Arduino 1

This holiday season I decided to gift myself some basic electrical components in the form of a Arduino UNO set from Elegoo. I have always had a desire to tinker with electronics and in gifting myself this basic set I am now starting on a journey to quench my inner electrical workman's thirst. I hope to develop this hobby as I move forward and will, from time to time, post about it here on the blog. As the journey moves forward I am sure to run into trouble and issues. But as they say you can not master anything without first being a fool at it, so I have decided to remain a fool at it until I am a little good at it. To start with, I do possess some elementary knowledge in electronics and electronic circuits. I intend to further my knowledge using the world wide web and following some very useful video channels on youtube. I will first start with some very basic projects to familiarize myself with Arduino and basic electronic circuits and techniques such as soldering. Then graduall...

iPad 2

The new iPad is worth it's money. Sleek slender design is a plus and so is the light weight. I am not really impressed by the camera as the pictures with both front and back cameras are pixelated and very amateurish looking. It's handy in the sense that I can carry it around while making rounds and access patient information on the go. This makes life easier and for someone like myself this means much less paper waste. I think one added advantage is that I will waste less time on writing down all the information on a piece of paper every morning and will be able to pull it up anytime I want to do so or need to do so. This gives me more time to think and reflect on the patient and spend more time with the patient rather than time in front of a bulky computer. There are new apps I am discovering every day. However there is still dearth of good medical apps that have been modeled for iPad. This makes the productivity of the iPad a little less but still the benefits of having a w...

Elections '08

Parliamentary Elections are just 12 hours away in Pakistan. Unlike all previous elections i have reached the voting age for these elections. Now i can use my right to vote to select a candidate that i think represents future and progress. I can be part of the democratic process. I can be a miniature vector of change or towards change. But i will not use my right to vote. that means i will not participate in the process of electing representatives who will rule my country and my fate for the next five years, even more if they get their way like this present dictator, Musharraf. In doing so i will loose my right to object to any actions of the 'elected', more so selected representatives of this country. but this can be debated and in most probability i will not pass from any opportunity to pointing out wrong doings and mischief in the character of those who lead my unfortunate country in the future. I will not vote because i know the outcomes of the elections have been pr...
