Doctors and wages

It is such an ironic and unfortunate thing that trainee doctors in Pakistan are treated in the most humiliating and degrading manner. And in turn when these doctors come out of this low level training they do the same with their younger colleagues.
A trainee doctor in the federal hospital is paid a mere Rs. 10,000 in form a stipend. This amount is insufficient for anyone, let alone a doctor, who has to earn for his/her family and support them. Even a street hawker earns more than his every month. To top this all when doctors try to raise their concern about the issue they are shot down by their very own senior colleagues who are in administrative power and have by this time filled their pockets with money and are satiated.
The doctors at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences let their voice out last week. All they did was stage a token protest in front of the emergency ward for 30 minutes. Lo and behold the tyrant Executive Director appears on the scene and very shamelessly tries to address the gathering. his opening remarks must be made a part of history. He claims an imaginary podium and in his pretentious commanding voice utters, "Why are you protesting here like this. After all none of you is dying of hunger..."
If you ask me Executive Director Fazl-e-Hadi can afford to talk to junior doctors in this very tone. He is actually quite at home talking to junior doctors like this. He has been a barbie doll of the health ministry and that is precisely why his contract is extended every now and then in spite of the fact that he will successfully pass all senility tests if put through.
It is indeed strange that he has managed to keep his post when at this time his hospital administration is being probed in many cases of misconduct including those of letting sub standard drugs into the hospital. Since he is a staunch supporter of Pakistani style of living he has applied for a further extension in his tenure for the lucrative post of Executive Director of PIMS instead of taking the responsibility and having the moral courage to resign from the post.
It is thus that junior doctors at PIMS decided to go on a complete strike from today. No junior doctor worked in the hospital instead everyone staged a peaceful protest in the hospital premises. There are news on the TV telling me that their protest has born fruit and their stipends have been increased.
Such is the dictatorship in Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences.

Learning Arduino 1

This holiday season I decided to gift myself some basic electrical components in the form of a Arduino UNO set from Elegoo. I have always had a desire to tinker with electronics and in gifting myself this basic set I am now starting on a journey to quench my inner electrical workman's thirst. I hope to develop this hobby as I move forward and will, from time to time, post about it here on the blog. As the journey moves forward I am sure to run into trouble and issues. But as they say you can not master anything without first being a fool at it, so I have decided to remain a fool at it until I am a little good at it. To start with, I do possess some elementary knowledge in electronics and electronic circuits. I intend to further my knowledge using the world wide web and following some very useful video channels on youtube. I will first start with some very basic projects to familiarize myself with Arduino and basic electronic circuits and techniques such as soldering. Then graduall...

Gluttony

There has been a recurring thought in my mind over the past many many months.  Every time I sit on the table to eat food with my  family  I thank God for giving me this opportunity to sit down and enjoy one of the basic needs of living beings.  Apart from the ability to sit down and eat with family I also do enjoy the absolute variety of tastes that are reaching my taste buds.  It is indeed a fact that our table is almost always stuffed with different  flavours by virtue of quite intricately cooked foods with lots of love.

XBOX ONE controller

I have been using the new xbox for many days now. The most important part of the console is obviously it's controller as this is the part we interact with most. In comparison to the xbox 360 controller the build quality of this controller seems slightly compromised. There is little counter weight in the wings of this controller and therefore it does not feel quite as sturdy in hand as the old one. However the shape has been elongated a bit and this actually probably compensates for the weight issue. All the buttons are within reach of my fingers which is good. One thing I have liked about the xbox controller is the snug fit in my hands. This is unlike sony's six axis controller. Those are obviously made for smaller hands. The sony controllers are much sturdier as I have learnt over the years I have had the play station. They took a lot of beating but came out winning. I don't think I expect same quality from the xbox controllers.  Also I have been getting a taste of Microso...
