Zotero

Mozilla Firefox has been a love at first sight for me. I stumbled upon the browser at Usman's place. Used it once and fell in instant love with it. It is way better than Internet Explorer 6 and 7. For one thing it loads pages faster and this enhances my web experience. For the other it can be customized to fit individual needs and likes and dislikes. The number of useful Add-ons is simply remarkable and each better than the other. It has been some time since I installed FireFox on my computer and since then I have been actively adding things to it.
Zotero is one such tool of help that i find very useful. It has effectively taken away the need for a stand alone research tool. Zotero is a easy to use plug in that helps you collect, manage and cite research sources. It works from within the browser and integrates with almost any application. It has been brought to us by Center for History and New Media and George Mason University.
Zotero features automatic capturing of citations from within web pages, storage of PDFs, files, images, links and whole web pages, flexible note taking, playlist like library organization and formatted citation export to many formats. Best of all it is free to use.
The interface is very simple yet very comprehensive. The usability is fantastic and i recommend it to anyone who gets his/her hands wet in research and needs to make citations in the work, both scientific and in the field of arts.
I have provided a link to Zotero in my external links section you can download it from there.
Firefox can also be downloaded from the right hand pane.

Learning Arduino 1

This holiday season I decided to gift myself some basic electrical components in the form of a Arduino UNO set from Elegoo. I have always had a desire to tinker with electronics and in gifting myself this basic set I am now starting on a journey to quench my inner electrical workman's thirst. I hope to develop this hobby as I move forward and will, from time to time, post about it here on the blog. As the journey moves forward I am sure to run into trouble and issues. But as they say you can not master anything without first being a fool at it, so I have decided to remain a fool at it until I am a little good at it. To start with, I do possess some elementary knowledge in electronics and electronic circuits. I intend to further my knowledge using the world wide web and following some very useful video channels on youtube. I will first start with some very basic projects to familiarize myself with Arduino and basic electronic circuits and techniques such as soldering. Then graduall...

Gluttony

There has been a recurring thought in my mind over the past many many months.  Every time I sit on the table to eat food with my  family  I thank God for giving me this opportunity to sit down and enjoy one of the basic needs of living beings.  Apart from the ability to sit down and eat with family I also do enjoy the absolute variety of tastes that are reaching my taste buds.  It is indeed a fact that our table is almost always stuffed with different  flavours by virtue of quite intricately cooked foods with lots of love.

XBOX ONE controller

I have been using the new xbox for many days now. The most important part of the console is obviously it's controller as this is the part we interact with most. In comparison to the xbox 360 controller the build quality of this controller seems slightly compromised. There is little counter weight in the wings of this controller and therefore it does not feel quite as sturdy in hand as the old one. However the shape has been elongated a bit and this actually probably compensates for the weight issue. All the buttons are within reach of my fingers which is good. One thing I have liked about the xbox controller is the snug fit in my hands. This is unlike sony's six axis controller. Those are obviously made for smaller hands. The sony controllers are much sturdier as I have learnt over the years I have had the play station. They took a lot of beating but came out winning. I don't think I expect same quality from the xbox controllers.  Also I have been getting a taste of Microso...
