Mumbai

It took the indian forces 60 hours to flush out 10 or so killers out of Mumbai . It was a horrible scene as it is always when innocent lives are lost and unsuspecting bystanders butchered. I have seen this all too often in my country lately to know any better. There is a blame game being played for meeting political ends on both side of the border. All the little trust that was ever there is being lost. My western friends are almost convinced that it is the Pakistani terrorists who are behind these happenings in Mumbai . I am not all too sure right now about that. The important question is who is to benefit from all this that has happened. Is it Pakistan, US, Al- Qaeda , other non state actors or perhaps India itself? It would be foolish to think that some 20 odd people will bring this carnage on a city without any clear and positives ends to meet in their own pereverted minds. But a look into their minds is the most difficult and likely impossible sight right now as all of them are ...

My Toyota experience

Uzer is coming to the twin cities in December.  Sometime in late December.  It will be damn cold then but his presence will warm things up I am sure.  looking forward to his visit. In other miscellaneous things that i did today i got my car serviced.  This is another thing off my head.  I can relax for another 3000 miles.  But can you imagine I called my Toyota dealer to set up an appointment with him for an oil change and he told me that he doesn't have synthetic oil in his inventory and if i wanted synthetic oil then i had to provide it myself.  I mean this is just ridiculous.  Maplewood Toyota boasts to be the number one dealer in the state.  But i have been less than satisfied with their dealings with me. When i bought the car the dealer didn't mention anything about the resurfacing that this car needed for working in harsh climates like that of my city.  When the whole deal was done and dusted then they charged me an extra sum f...

MQM fraud exposed

Pk Politics has done a great job at exposing the lies of the one of the most fraudulent party in the local scene.  MQM had recently launched one of their usual dirty propaganda campaign about how Mustafa Kamal had been declared the second best mayor of the world by the foreign policy magazine.  All the newspapers and the media these days is under this propaganda campaign by the MQM.  So much so that Altaf Hussain managed to perform his theatricals in a press conference to talk about his baby mayor. Dawn news also published the news without confirming the source.  the deteriorating quality of the news in Dawn is a matter of another post that will come soon but this blatant mistake and misinformation is a shame for the publishers of the Dawn News. It has been proven that Mustafa Kamal is no good than any other third rate mayor who is corrupt and casual about his attitude towards his citizens.

McCain Concedes

Senator John McCain has conceded victory to Senator Barrack Obama in the presidential election.  It sounds early but all the projections are going against him and he was quick to take the stage and go across the lines in supporting his opponent.

College Corridors

Corridors are an integral and dominating part of a educational institution.  It is here that ideas are born and discussed, organizations given shape and gossip spread.  It is the place that holds all our secrets and those of around us.  These are the places that are our retreat from the environment of the classrooms.  We listen, hear, talk, sit, stare, stand and walk these very corridors, never knowing that as time flows it will take some of us to our own different destinies from the gossip corridors of the show business to the power corridors of the country.  politicians are trained in these very corridors with some of them sharpening their debating skills on their sometimes uninterested friends and actors are bred in the corridors acting out scenes from their favorite movies. During recess times these corridors are abuzz with activity.  One can see various groups of students dressed in one uniform dress spread at equidistance from each other like repell...

President's house and marriage hall

I was going through the pictures of the wedding ceremony of prime minister Yousaf's son in the president house.  I am not amazed by the pictures that I see.  to me Zardari is a lowly scoundrel who made it big time thanks to his wife Benazir.  He thinks like a small time businessman who has nothing on his mind but to negotiate and please every authority to get the perks that he lives his life for. But interestingly I was impressed by the pictures of the bride who looked too vain to be getting married in the president's house.  She, I am sure, will brag about this all her life and will not settle down on earth from the euphoria that she seems to be driving from it. This is an attempt by Zardari to get the prime minister at his side.  All corrupt leaders tend to gather support this way.  Zardari is no not unique in doing any of this.  But as the custom of the world dictates it will be his very own friends who will dig a deep whole for him one day....

Typing Away

In this modern age computers are everything to us.  Computers are our friends, foes, facsimile machines, copiers, printers, safe boxes and everything else and in between.  It is little wonder that i guard my passwords more than my life these days. Anyway's a computer is of little use to a common user without its most evident input device and that is a key board.  Without a keyboard we would not be able to communicate with our beloved machine.  we would be left stranded in a one way communication that is not very enjoyable.  Is it? But extended use or over use of this valuable device has its own health consequences.  I am here to talk about just a possible few. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome or CTS is advertised to be caused by excessive typing on the keyboards.  In fact to date I do not know of a study that establishes a causal relationship between excessive typing and development of carpal tunnel syndrome.  CTS is associated with repetitive and for...

Dawn Paratha

Ever since I have descended on this country I have had to come to terms with a new breed of parathas.  The breed that I was not accustomed to consuming back in my own country.  Back home it used to be a delicious serving made by the loving hands of my mother and baked on just the right heat and with just the right amount of original butter.  layers were both distinct and palpable on the palate.  A very mouth watering retreat that I will now miss for the rest of my life.  Anyway's I am supposed to be talking about the paratha that is Dawn paratha.  I have recently tried it and i do not like it.  the problem with this Pakistani company is that it is greedy and wants more out of less.  Its not so bad when it comes to taste.  I would say its just OK.  The problem lies in the quantity and the size of the serving.  Dawn manages to package lighter weight smaller parathay in the same standard packaging that other competitors use for bulkier...
